Enough of that…

The forecast had the wind clocking to the South, and then Southwest. Didn’t happen. Left us close hauled in winds of 20 to 25 knots, and building. Boat and us getting beat up pretty hard.

So a consensus decision was reached, and we peeled off and are now head for Bermuda, which is now about 175 miles to the northeast.

Once the weather settles and we recover a bit we’ll be off again. Probably 2 or three days.

Good call Bill. I’ve done that trip I think 4 times now on several different Super Maramus, and that’s been always the way to do it. Not a big fan of battling the elements to get to where I want to go (big chicken is more like it). Plus Bermuda is a very pleasant stop to wait for the right winds to give you the necessary easting by the time the Tradewinds kick in. Being a little further north gives you that many more options than simply bashing into the them or the fronts that always seem to sit up over the Bahamas. You can go down the sheltered west side of the Windwards from Antigua on down or if you have fair winds, you can do the quick sleigh ride down the east side in the Atlantic. Much better ride either way. Fair winds!
